Where to start:

When I write its usually deeper than first glance. I write about everything from personal experiences to observances to my imagination but my personal style is a little abstract. Not always when you read something it means what you think it does. I like to leave room for doubt and interpretations - make the mind work a little bit ;) ~ the lyricist.

When writing a poem there are a few simple rules:
  1. Always be honest with your work - We've already got a Maya Angelou, William Blake, Edgar Allen Poe - be yourself and your words will flow smoother
  2. Your poem DOES NOT NEED TO RHYME - sometimes rhyming can make a potentially good poem sink - or it can just create a really bad poem. Observe:

Ope

Oh baby how I hope

That we could elope

Be married by the pope

And seal our lives in an envelope

And learn to cope

While staying off dope

Do you see how this writer, in trying to create a rhyme, created quite a disaster. There are many ways this can go better, firstly don't try to chooe a word to base your poem on - instead choose an emotion and let the words flow from that.

Be Original

The most important thing to remember no matter what is ALWAYS BE ORIGINAL - it is a crime as well as a quite humiliating situation to plagiarize your work. If you can't think of your own words - maybe writing isn't the right field for you. Look around into something that doesn't require so much brain power...
